What is Extract Ratio?
An extract ratio expresses how much raw starting material was concentrated to produce a given weight of finished extract, written as figures such as ten to one. It tells you how concentrated an extract claims to be.
The ratio exists as a shorthand for potency, but it sits awkwardly next to a standardised extract, which instead guarantees a set level of a named compound. On its own a ratio says nothing about which beta-glucans or other actives survived, so it is weaker evidence than a test result. For mushrooms it connects closely to dual extraction and to the fruiting body used as the base.
An extract ratio helps as a rough gauge when comparing similar products from careful makers. The catch is that the number is easy to inflate and hard to verify, because a higher ratio can simply mean more water was removed rather than more active compound retained. Without a test result behind it, the figure can mislead.
